FDA testing found three undeclared alcohols
The announcement says FDA testing measured about 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol and 0.48% isopropanol in the recalled product. None was declared on the label. The health risk depends on how much was consumed and the child’s age and body weight; this page does not estimate an individual dose or outcome.
The FDA-posted announcement labels itself as an update that clarifies the hazard. It says exposure to the amounts recommended on the package can cause drowsiness, incoordination, behavioral changes, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Higher exposure can raise the risk of respiratory depression and other serious health consequences; it also says infant ethanol exposure has been linked to long-term developmental consequences.
The company said it had received no reports of adverse events when the notice was issued. That does not make a matching bottle safe to continue using.
Online sales create a possible Rockland purchase path
The company distributed the recalled lot to Secrets of Tea for online retail, including secretsoftea.com ↗ and Amazon. A Rockland purchase is therefore possible, but the public notice does not identify individual buyers, deliveries or adverse events in Rockland County.
The recall is limited to the exact lot and date above. It does not cover every Babies’ Magic Tea product or every gripe-water product.
