CONSUMER SAFETY RECALL SCHOOLS, CHILDREN & ACCESS

Take it away from children. Esjay toddler busy boards are recalled.

If you have a blue five-page Esjay busy board with cartoon dinosaurs on the front, alphabet-animal squares on the back and red knobs on page two, take it away from children now and stop using it. The red knobs can detach and become deadly choking hazards.

Original identification guide by The Rockland Edit, based on CPSC recall 26-775. It is an information graphic, not product photography or evidence that a recalled board is in Rockland.

What to do now

  • Take the board away from children immediately and stop using it.
  • Check the full description: blue felt, cartoon dinosaurs on the front, alphabet-animal squares on the back, five pages and red knobs on the second page.
  • Request the free replacement page: call 888-206-9309, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific, or email esjay-service@outlook.com.
  • Use CPSC's sequence: unzip the red-knob page, write RECALLED on both sides, discard that page and email a photo of the disposed page to the address above.

The red knobs are the hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says the red knobs can detach. Because the toy is intended for children under three, the detachable knobs violate the federal small-parts ban and pose a deadly choking hazard.

About 276,000 boards were sold. CPSC reported no incidents or injuries when it published the recall September 17. That is why this is a preventive check: the absence of a reported injury does not make a matching board safe to keep using.

How to recognize this exact board

The recalled Esjay Toddler Busy Board Montessori Toy is made of blue felt and has carrying handles, elastic cords and button closures. Cartoon dinosaurs appear on the front. The back has 26 small alphabet squares, each pairing a letter with a cartoon animal. The board contains five pages, and the page with red knobs is the second page.

Do not identify a board by its blue color alone. Use the entire description and compare the official product photographs in the federal notice linked below if you are unsure.

The federal and company pages do not give the steps in the same order

CPSC says consumers will be asked to unzip the page with red knobs, write RECALLED on both sides, throw that page away and then email a photo of the disposed page to receive a replacement. Esjay's own recall page instead tells readers in one place to photograph the product before disposing of the page and elsewhere asks for a product photo and order information.

This guide uses the federal sequence and the phone number and email that CPSC verifies. If you are not sure which photo Esjay needs, confirm it by phone or email before discarding the page. Do not keep the toy within a child's reach while waiting. The cited recall provides prevention and repair instructions, not clinical guidance.

Amazon sales are confirmed; a Rockland order is not

The boards were sold on Amazon from March 2023 through July 2026 for $18–$30. That nationwide sale route gives Rockland households a concrete reason to check an order history, but it does not confirm a Rockland purchase, detached knob, choking event or injury.

The free remedy is a replacement second page—not a refund or replacement of the entire board. Use the rest of the board only after the compliant replacement page is installed.

What changes for a resident: if you have the blue Esjay five-page toddler busy board with red knobs on page two, take it away from children immediately, stop using it and request the free replacement page.

Product identity, hazard, Amazon sale window, incident record, federal repair sequence and contacts were rechecked September 20, 2026, at 4:56 a.m. EDT. The company page still differed on photo timing, so this guide preserves CPSC's sequence rather than silently combining the instructions. No Rockland order or injury is confirmed.
