CONSUMER SAFETY RECALL — COMMUNITY & ACCESS
Stop using five Expert Grill wire-bristle products. Walmart is offering a refund or store credit.
Walmart recalled about 4.48 million Expert Grill brushes and grill-tool sets Thursday because small metal bristles can break loose, remain on a grill or enter food, and cause serious internal injury if swallowed. Check the exact model number before taking action.

What to do now
- Check: the package or sticker attached to the brush for one of five model numbers below.
- If it matches: stop using the brush immediately.
- Remedy: contact Walmart for a full refund or a credit usable at a Walmart store or Walmart.com.
- Return or disposal: Walmart will instruct consumers to return the brush or discard it; follow the instruction given for the claim.
- Contact: 800-925-6278, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–10 p.m. Eastern.
Five products are included
Match the model number on the packaging or the sticker or tag attached to the brush:
EX5607031616002— 16-inch steel-fiber scrub brush and scraper.EX5607031616003— handheld steel-fiber scrub brush with ergonomic handle.XG1310700206— 21-inch, three-head stainless-steel-bristle grill brush.XG1136178597003— 17.7-inch long-handle grill brush with scraper.XG1410700124— 10-piece stainless-steel grilling-accessories set containing a wire-bristle brush.
Do not broaden the recall to every Expert Grill brush or accessory. The current federal notice covers these five model numbers.
Why the recall matters
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says small metal wire bristles can detach from the brush and remain on the grill or food. If swallowed, a bristle can cause serious internal injury and may require surgery.
CPSC says no incidents or injuries have been reported for these recalled products. That does not change the stop-use instruction.
Where and when they were sold
The five products were sold at Walmart stores and online, including Walmart.com, for about $1–$28. The applicable sale windows vary by model and stretch from January 2021 through August 2026; the newest two models were sold from January 2025 through August 2026.
Nationwide Walmart sales create a possible path into a Rockland household, but the federal notice does not identify store-level distribution. The Rockland Edit has not confirmed a purchase or injury in Rockland County.
How to start the refund
- Stop using an exact match and keep the product, packaging, model tag and receipt if available while you contact Walmart.
- Call 800-925-6278, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern, or use Walmart's product-recall page ↗.
- Follow Walmart's instruction to return or discard the product. Do not assume disposal alone completes a refund claim.
What changes for a resident: anyone with one of the five recalled Expert Grill model numbers should stop using it now and contact Walmart for the return-or-disposal instruction tied to a full refund or store credit.
