What to do
Use the live 511NY incident list ↗ for a new trip. A record disappearing from the list does not establish the exact reopening time or describe residual traffic conditions.
What remains unconfirmed
511NY did not publish the people or vehicles involved, a cause, injuries or final outcomes for either Rockland record. The Rockland Edit did not independently observe the crashes or the clearing process.
What changes for a resident: the two Rockland crash notices are no longer current travel guidance; check live conditions before a new I-87 trip.
Primary source: the 511NY incident list ↗, checked October 12, 2026, at 5:56 p.m. EDT. The complete 24-item list did not carry either northbound Rockland record. It carried a separate southbound I-87 crash near Exit 3 in Yonkers, beginning at 5:49 p.m., with a right lane blocked on the ramp. The absence of the Rockland records does not supply their exact clearing times or final outcomes.
