Galil Importing says the recalled cinnamon was distributed to retail stores, grocery stores, delis and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida and Illinois from November 18, 2025, through September 7, 2026.

That gives Rockland shoppers a concrete reason to check the spice cabinet. It does not establish that a Rockland store received the product. The Rockland Edit has not confirmed a local shipment, shelf, purchase, exposure or illness.

Why the product was recalled

The company says Maryland health officials collected and analyzed a sample that contained elevated levels of lead. Galil then began a voluntary recall and told customers to stop distributing and selling the affected product.

Lead exposure may not produce obvious symptoms at very low levels; an increased blood lead level can be the only apparent sign. The FDA-posted announcement says lead can affect nearly every bodily system and that prolonged exposure in children can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system.

Do not use the absence of symptoms as a pantry test

No illnesses had been reported as of the company's September 24 announcement. That does not clear a matching jar. Use the product name, size, UPC and lot code—not taste, smell, appearance or symptoms—to decide whether the recall applies.
