TRANSIT SERVICE GUIDE ARCHIVE — TRANSPORTATION & MOBILITY
The October 4 Giants–Cardinals rail window has passed. This page is not a current trip plan.
NJ Transit said the last return train would not leave Meadowlands before 6:15 p.m.; that time has passed, and the agency did not publish a fixed later cutoff. This permanent page preserves what applied on October 4 without claiming that special service remains available.

The October 4 plan at a glance
- Status: the October 4 special-service window has passed; do not assume a Meadowlands train is available now.
- Historical stadium-bound window: trains left Secaucus from 9:41 a.m. through 2:15 p.m.
- Historical ticket and wristband rule: riders needed a Meadowlands round trip and the wristband issued at Secaucus for the return shuttle.
- Historical Sloatsburg path: riders took a substitute bus to Ramsey Route 17, changed to a train, then changed again at Secaucus.
- Historical return language: NJ Transit said the last train would not leave Meadowlands before 6:15 p.m.; it did not publish a fixed later cutoff or promise a Rockland connection.

How the October 4 path worked
Pascack Valley Line or Suffern: riders took the train to Secaucus and followed signs for the Meadowlands shuttle. Sloatsburg or west of Suffern: October 4 fell inside NJ Transit's temporary weekend Port Jervis schedule, so the trip began on a substitute bus and changed to rail at Ramsey Route 17 before Secaucus.
Suffern was on the train side of the weekend plan. The extra Ramsey Route 17 transfer did not apply to every Rockland rider.
The wristband was part of the October 4 trip
NJ Transit directed riders to buy a round-trip ticket from their originating station to Meadowlands Station. At Secaucus, riders showed that ticket to receive the wristband required for the stadium shuttle and kept it for the trip back.
Someone who reached the stadium another way could buy a shuttle wristband at tents near Meadowlands Station beginning 2½ hours before the game. That wristband covered only Meadowlands–Secaucus travel; a separate ticket was still needed beyond Secaucus.
Why 6:15 p.m. is not a promised Rockland connection
NJ Transit said the final return train would not leave Meadowlands Station before 6:15 p.m. It also said end-of-event trains could leave earlier or later than listed as crowd volume changed, with additional service after 6:15 if needed.
That wording did not promise that a Pascack Valley, Main/Bergen County or Port Jervis connection would wait, and it did not establish a fixed final departure. For any later journey, use the NJ Transit trip planner ↗, live rail status ↗ and current printable schedules ↗.
Final line and accessibility record
7:54 p.m. archive check: Main/Bergen County and Pascack Valley were on time. NJ Transit's 4:36 p.m. restoration notice ↗ and elevator table agreed that Ridgewood's inbound (eastbound) elevator was in service; both Ramsey Route 17 elevators and all seven Secaucus rail elevators were also listed in service. These are time-stamped historical conditions, not a promise for a later trip.
NJ Transit also listed the women's restroom inside Hoboken Terminal closed until further notice for repairs, with portable restrooms available outside. Hoboken was not required for the default Rockland paths above, but the closure could matter if a later trip planner routes a rider through the terminal.
The National Weather Service Rockland forecast ↗ called for increasing clouds, a high in the lower 60s and a 50% chance of afternoon showers. The 2:36 p.m. Hazardous Weather Outlook said no hazardous weather was expected. Those conditions belong to October 4 and should not be applied to another trip.

Primary sources: the NJ Transit Giants–Cardinals event advisory ↗, posted October 2; the official October 4 Meadowlands timetable ↗; the NJ Transit Meadowlands event page ↗; the printable schedule page ↗, which lists the weekend Port Jervis busing schedule through October 10; live rail and terminal advisories ↗; NJ Transit's 4:36 p.m. Ridgewood elevator-restoration notice ↗ and elevator status table ↗; the National Weather Service Rockland forecast ↗; and the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook ↗. Event rules, service times and the weekend-schedule listing were checked October 3. A final archive check at 7:54 p.m. October 4 found Main/Bergen County and Pascack Valley on time and the relevant listed elevators in service. The event notice did not publish a fixed final-departure time, so this archive does not claim when the last special train left. Use current NJ Transit tools for any new journey.
