TRANSIT SERVICE UPDATE — MONDAY, OCTOBER 12

TOR keeps its weekday schedule Monday. TRIPS is ADA service only.

Rockland County's Columbus Day plan is a mix, not a systemwide shutdown: fixed-route TOR buses run their regular weekday schedule, regular TRIPS service does not run, and the County transit office in Pomona is closed.

Original service card by The Rockland Edit, based on current Rockland County and NJ Transit notices. It is information design—not an agency timetable, vehicle photograph or guarantee that a connection will wait.

What runs Monday

  • TOR: regular weekday service.
  • TRIPS: ADA service only; regular TRIPS service will not operate.
  • Fares: TOR and TRIPS fares remain waived.
  • County transit office: the Pomona office is closed.
  • NJ Transit rail: temporary Portal cutover weekday schedules apply, including the Main/Bergen and Pascack Valley lines used by Rockland riders.

The rail schedule is temporary—not the usual holiday table

NJ Transit says Monday is the first weekday of its Portal Bridge cutover period. Rail riders should use the special weekday table for their line, not assume that a saved trip or ordinary holiday pattern still applies. The agency says the temporary schedules can include earlier departures, reduced frequency, longer travel times and train consolidations or cancellations.

Rockland riders can choose the official Main/Bergen or Pascack Valley weekday table on NJ Transit's cutover page ↗. For the broader October 11–November 14 changes, use The Rockland Edit's temporary-schedule explainer →.

Do not extend this guide to every operator

This page confirms County-operated TOR and TRIPS service and separately confirms NJ Transit rail. It does not state a Monday schedule for Hudson Link, Clarkstown Mini Trans, Coach USA, Monsey Trails, the Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry or another operator because a matching current first-party 2026 holiday notice was not established during this check.

If a trip crosses operators, check each one directly before leaving. The County's transit-alert page ↗ carries the TOR and TRIPS notice; NJ Transit's live status page ↗ carries day-of rail conditions.

What changes for a resident: On Monday, TOR runs its regular weekday schedule, TRIPS is limited to ADA service, fares remain waived, the Pomona transit office is closed and NJ Transit rail uses temporary weekday schedules.

Primary sources rechecked October 11, 2026, at 1:50 a.m. EDT: Rockland County's current transit-alert page ↗ and October 9 Columbus Day transit notice ↗; and NJ Transit's Portal Bridge cutover page ↗, which states that Monday rail service uses the temporary weekday schedule. The County pages were available through current search records but returned access errors when opened directly; the article therefore confines its County claims to the text reproduced consistently in those current records. No claim is made for an unlisted operator.
