CHILD SAFETY RECALL — FALL HAZARD

Check a Harkla sensory swing. The four-hole ceiling hook can separate.

Harkla recalled about 25,541 children’s sensory swings in the United States after 29 reports that the ceiling hook separated from its mounting plate. Fourteen injuries include two concussions, a broken arm, bumps and bruises. Stop using a covered swing until the free repair is installed.

Check the mounting hardware and package

  • Product: blue Harkla children’s compression sensory swing with ceiling mounting hardware.
  • Hook: only swings supplied with a four-hole ceiling-hook mounting plate are included.
  • Package SKUs: LS-COMP-1BLU or LS-COMP-1BLU-SW, printed on the side of the packaging.
  • Action: stop use immediately until repaired; register with Harkla for the free kit and shipping.

The hook—not every sensory swing—is the controlling check

The recalled compression swing has a blue fabric seat and was sold with a ceiling hook, mounting hardware and an 18- to 24-inch drop length. CPSC limits this recall to units with the four-hole hook. A similar swing or a different Harkla mounting plate is not identified by this notice.

If the original packaging is available, compare the SKU on its side. If it is not, use the CPSC photographs of the four-hole plate ↗ rather than guessing from the fabric seat alone.

Stop use until the free repair is installed

CPSC says to stop using a covered swing immediately and contact Harkla for a free repair kit, including shipping. The kit contains a replacement ceiling-hook mounting plate, a safety strap and updated installation instructions. Register through Harkla’s recall page ↗, email recall@harkla.co or call 844-442-7552, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific, Monday through Friday.

Do not resume use merely because the original hook appears intact. The remedy is the replacement hardware, strap and updated instructions. CPSC says the original hook should be discarded only under local waste and recycling rules after the repair process.

Who may have one—and the Rockland limit

The swings were sold from March 2020 through December 2025 for about $100 to $130 through Sensory Tool House, Hammer & Jacks, Loaded Sensory, Renew through Faire, Amazon and Harkla’s website. The recall covers about 25,541 U.S. units, plus about 5,534 sold in Canada.

Online and specialty-retail sales make ownership by a Rockland family, school, therapy practice or other program possible, but the reviewed records do not identify a Rockland purchaser, facility, hook separation or injury. This article does not infer that a child’s need for sensory support caused the hazard; the failure described is in the mounting hardware.

What this changes for a Rockland resident: inspect any Harkla children’s compression sensory swing before the next use. A four-hole ceiling-hook plate or either listed package SKU means the swing should remain unused until the no-cost repair is installed.

Primary record checked October 30, 2026, at 2:53 a.m. EDT: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recall 27-060, dated October 29 ↗. The federal notice supplies the covered hardware, SKUs, sales channels, incident and injury counts, remedy and company contact. Harkla’s linked registration page could not be independently loaded in the approved reader, so no additional claim from that page is used. No Rockland transaction, facility or injury is claimed.
