Check the dresser. Walmart has reannounced a recall after recalled units were distributed again.
Mainstays nine-drawer fabric dressers can tip over when they are not anchored to the wall, creating an entrapment hazard and a risk of serious injury or death to children. A full refund is available.
What to do now
- If the dresser is not anchored: stop using it immediately.
- Keep children away: move the dresser to an area children cannot access.
- Check the identity: look for “Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser” on the receipt or packaging and a tracking/lot and manufacture-date label under the top panel.
- Request the remedy: contact Walmart for a full refund.
Why the recall was announced again
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reannounced the recall on August 27, 2026, after Walmart distributed some recalled dressers after the original May recall. CPSC says those units reached consumers through four liquidators. The agency’s reannouncement covers about 165,250 dressers, including about 165,000 named in the May action.

How to identify the dresser
The recalled Mainstays fabric dresser has a black metal frame and nine brown or black fabric drawers with handles. CPSC lists approximate dimensions of 40 inches long, 13.75 inches wide and 45 inches tall, with a weight of about 32 pounds.
The units were manufactured from September 2023 through December 2025. A tracking/lot number and manufacture date in MM/YYYY format are printed on a label under the dresser’s top panel. “Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dresser” appears on the order receipt and packaging.
The hazard is tip-over and entrapment
CPSC says the dressers are unstable when they are not anchored to a wall. A falling dresser can trap a child and cause serious injury or death. The agency says the product violates the mandatory clothing-storage standard required by the STURDY Act.
No incidents or injuries had been reported in the federal recall notice. That does not change the immediate stop-use instruction for an unanchored unit.
How the refund works
Contact Walmart at 800-925-6278, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time, or use Walmart’s recall page ↗. CPSC says consumers will be asked to return the dresser’s drawers to any Walmart store and dispose of the metal frame according to local and State rules.
The useful version: if this is your dresser and it is not anchored, stop using it now and keep children away. Check the label under the top panel, then contact Walmart for the full-refund process.
