Check the sticker. Recalled Martina mangoes reached select Walmart stores in New York.
The recall is small but specific: 302 boxes of size-nine mangoes distributed to select Walmart stores in New York and three neighboring states. Match the brand, sticker, PLU and full UPC before discarding or returning a mango.
What to do now
- Check the case brand: Martina.
- Check the individual sticker: light blue, labeled “Agrofepac” and “Produce of Mexico.”
- Match both numbers: PLU 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.
- If everything matches: do not eat the mango; discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
- If illness is suspected: contact a healthcare provider.
New York distribution is confirmed; a Rockland store is not
Panorama Produce says the recalled mangoes were distributed from August 10 through August 21, 2026, to select Walmart stores in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The company described the fruit as size nine, but shoppers should rely on the sticker and numbers rather than trying to judge size by eye.
The public notice does not name the individual Walmart locations. The Rockland Edit has not independently confirmed that a recalled mango was stocked or sold in Rockland County. Why the company recalled the mangoes
According to the announcement, FDA sampling found Salmonella in mangoes grown on the same farm, although the sampled fruit did not enter U.S. commerce. Panorama Produce recalled the identified mangoes because they shared that source.
No illnesses had been reported in connection with the recalled product when the company issued its announcement on August 28. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. The company notice says infections can be serious or fatal for young children, frail or older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
If the sticker is missing or the match is uncertain
Do not treat every mango as recalled: the notice names one brand, one sticker description, one PLU and one UPC. A receipt or case label may help, but the announcement does not provide a store list or a consumer-facing lot number.
