Planning an arts-space project? New York's capital-grant round is open.
Eligible Rockland nonprofit arts and cultural organizations can now review three State grant tracks for facility improvements and design work. The first useful date is close: NYSCA's registration-required application webinar is Tuesday, September 22, at noon.

- Grant range: $10,000 to $10 million, depending on the track, organization and project.
There are three different tracks
The small and midsize capital-improvement track offers matching grants from $50,000 to $2 million that can cover up to half of a project's total cost. Organizations with operating budgets under $2 million may also seek a no-match award from $10,000 to $99,000.
The large capital-improvement track offers $2 million to $10 million for projects costing at least $4 million. Those awards can cover no more than half of the total project cost.
The design-grant track supports mid-stage and advanced design documents for eligible arts and cultural nonprofits with operating budgets of $10 million or less. Awards generally range from $50,000 to $500,000 and can cover up to half of the design phase. Organizations with budgets under $2 million may seek $10,000 to $99,000 without a match.
What to do before choosing a number
Start with NYSCA's FY 2027 opportunity page ↗ and open the complete guidelines for the track that fits the project. The headline ranges are not a substitute for the eligibility, project-cost, document and application rules inside those guidelines.
The State says $80 million is available statewide through this round. That figure is not a Rockland allocation, and the public records reviewed for this guide do not name a local applicant or guarantee an award. A group should not commit spending on the strength of this summary alone.
Use the webinar and office hours for application questions
NYSCA's assistance page lists the September 22 kickoff webinar and registration links for weekly office hours beginning September 25. The webinar is the best first stop for a group deciding whether to proceed; the office hours are designed for questions that arise while working through an application.
