Stop using it. NEWDERY power bank model ZHX-PB22 is recalled.

The recalled power bank is black, has yellow cables and carries model number ZHX-PB22 on the back. Nine explosion or ignition reports include one burn injury and one fire reported to have caused $2 million in property damage.

The incident record is not hypothetical

NEWDERY has received nine reports of the recalled power banks exploding or igniting, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Those reports include one burn injury and one serious fire reported to have caused $2 million in property damage.

CPSC does not publish the locations or other details of those incidents. The Rockland Edit has not confirmed a Rockland purchase, fire or injury.

Contact the company before you mark the device

CPSC says owners should contact NEWDERY for full-refund instructions. The federal notice says the refund process will require a photograph showing the model number, serial number, the word “recalled” and the consumer's last name written on the power bank in permanent marker. It also requires confirmation that the device was disposed of lawfully.

The company page and federal notice do not fully match

NEWDERY's linked page displays a June 5, 2025 date and says consumers may receive a refund or replacement. CPSC's newer September 24, 2026 notice says the remedy is a full refund and gives the specific permanent-marker photo requirements above.

This guide follows the newer federal notice. If NEWDERY gives a different remedy or sequence, save the communication and compare it with CPSC recall 26-792 ↗; do not guess which documentation the company will accept.

Do not put it in trash or an ordinary battery box

CPSC says recalled lithium-ion batteries present a greater fire risk and must be handled differently from other batteries. Do not place this device in household trash, curbside or general recycling, or the used-battery boxes found at retail and home-improvement stores.

Rockland Green operates a household-hazardous-waste facility at 35 Firemens Memorial Drive in Pomona. Its public page lists weekday hours of 8 a.m.–1 p.m., but it does not confirm acceptance of this specific recalled device. Call 845-753-2200 before traveling and ask whether the facility accepts recalled lithium-ion power banks and what handling instructions to follow.

Amazon sales create a possible local purchase path

About 21,380 units were sold on Amazon from October 2023 through November 2024 for $27–$50. Nationwide online availability means a Rockland household could own one; it does not prove a local order.

Do not broaden the recall to every NEWDERY product or every black power bank. Match the brand, yellow cables and model number ZHX-PB22.

What changes for a resident: anyone with a black NEWDERY power bank with yellow cables and model ZHX-PB22 should stop using it, contact the company for full-refund instructions and keep it out of trash, curbside recycling and retail battery boxes.
