TRANSIT SERVICE GUIDE — TRANSPORTATION & MOBILITY
Going to Jets–Packers from Rockland? Know which transfer path is yours.
NJ Transit will run Meadowlands shuttle trains for the September 20 game, but there is no direct stadium train from Rockland. Every rail rider changes at Secaucus, and Sunday's Port Jervis Line work gives Sloatsburg riders one additional bus-to-train transfer before they get there.

Choose your starting path
- Pascack Valley or Suffern: take the train to Secaucus, then change for the Meadowlands shuttle.
- Sloatsburg or farther west: use the temporary bus schedule, change to a train at Ramsey Route 17, then change again at Secaucus.
- Going in: stadium-bound shuttles leave Secaucus from 9:41 a.m. through 2:15 p.m.
- Ticket and wristband: buy the round trip to Meadowlands Station before boarding, then show that ticket at Secaucus for the required wristband.
Why Sloatsburg has an extra transfer Sunday
The game falls inside NJ Transit's scheduled Port Jervis Line weekend work window, from 12:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, through 12:30 a.m. Monday, September 21. During that window, Sloatsburg and stations west of Suffern use substitute buses and transfer between bus and train at Ramsey Route 17.
Suffern stays on the train side of the plan. Weekend local trains continue between Suffern and Hoboken, with no express service. That means the additional Ramsey Route 17 transfer does not apply to every Rockland rider.
At Secaucus, the wristband matters
There is no direct Meadowlands train from a Rockland-serving line. At Secaucus, follow the lower-level Meadowlands connection, show a ticket to Meadowlands Station and collect the wristband required for the stadium shuttle. Keep it on for the return trip.
Someone who reaches the stadium another way may buy a shuttle wristband at tents near Meadowlands Station beginning 2½ hours before the game. That wristband covers only Meadowlands–Secaucus travel; another ticket is required beyond Secaucus.
Do not turn 6:15 p.m. into a promised Rockland connection
NJ Transit says the final return train will not leave Meadowlands Station before 6:15 p.m. End-of-event trains may leave earlier or later than the listed times as crowd volume changes, and additional service may operate after 6:15 if needed.
That language does not promise that a westbound Rockland train or substitute bus will wait. Before leaving the stadium, check the exact Secaucus connection and the temporary weekend schedule for the final leg home.
Buy before boarding and check the trip again
NJ Transit advises riders to buy a round-trip ticket from their originating station to Meadowlands Station before traveling. The agency says an onboard purchase carries a $5 surcharge per ticket.
The event timetable is not a full itinerary from every Rockland station. Use the NJ Transit trip planner ↗ with the temporary weekend schedule ↗, and leave room for the transfers rather than building the trip around a single shuttle time.
Accessibility and weather need a game-day recheck
At 9:52 p.m. Wednesday, NJ Transit listed both Ramsey Route 17 elevators and all seven Secaucus rail elevators in service. Main/Bergen County and Pascack Valley were also marked on time. Those conditions can change, so riders who need a step-free path should recheck the elevator-status page ↗ and live rail status ↗ before leaving. Sunday's forecast can also change; check the current forecast before choosing what to carry or wear.
What changes for a resident: every Rockland rail rider going to Sunday's game must transfer at Secaucus, while a Sloatsburg rider first uses a substitute bus and changes at Ramsey Route 17.
