The outlook names a localized risk—not countywide flooding
The NWS hazardous-weather outlook ↗, issued at 6:19 p.m. Saturday, says heavy downpours late tonight and Sunday morning could create localized flash flooding in Rockland and nearby counties. “Localized” matters: the notice does not say every road, stream or neighborhood will flood.
The Rockland County forecast ↗, last issued at 2:48 p.m., puts tonight’s rain chance at 70% and Sunday’s at 90%, with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Forecast percentages describe the chance of measurable precipitation—not the percentage of the county that will flood.
No watch or warning is in effect
The outlook is an early planning signal. It is not a flash-flood warning and does not identify a confirmed flooded road, evacuation area or travel ban. At the 8:51 p.m. check, 511NY’s Hudson Valley–Catskill page ↗ displayed no regional alert.
That can change overnight. Keep official alerts available, especially if you live near a stream, in a low spot or on a street that has flooded before. If a warning is issued for your location, follow it rather than relying on this article’s earlier snapshot.
If water covers the road, do not test it
