Heading to RCC Wednesday? Flu is confirmed. Call first for MMR, RSV or pneumonia.
Rockland County's no-appointment clinic at the RCC Fieldhouse runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 23. Flu vaccination is clearly confirmed, but two County records list different additional vaccines.
Before you go
- When: Wednesday, September 23, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
- Where: Rockland Community College Fieldhouse, 145 College Road, Suffern.
- Registration: no appointment or preregistration; staff will register people on site.
- Flu: available for ages 6 months and older; high-dose vaccine is available for people 65 and older.
- Insurance: bring a Medicare, Medicaid or private-insurance card if you have one.
- MMR, RSV or pneumonia questions: call the Rockland County Department of Health at 845-364-2534 before traveling.
Flu vaccination is the confirmed overlap
The Health Department's September 10 announcement and the County's September 23 event listing both confirm flu vaccination Wednesday. The County says flu vaccine is available from age 6 months and that a high-dose version will be given to people 65 and older.
The County says vaccination is free for people who are uninsured or underinsured. People with Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance should bring their insurance card. The records do not say whether an insured person could face cost-sharing, so ask clinic staff before vaccination if cost is a deciding factor.
The County's other vaccine listings do not match
The County homepage and event listing call Wednesday's stop a “Flu & Measles (MMR) Clinic.” But the Health Department's September 10 countywide announcement lists flu plus limited quantities of RSV and pneumonia vaccine for the RCC stop—and does not list MMR there.
Those two records cannot responsibly be combined into a four-vaccine menu. They confirm only flu in common. The Rockland Edit has not independently confirmed whether MMR, RSV or pneumonia vaccine will be available, how much supply exists or who will qualify.
Call before making a vaccine-specific trip
If you are going specifically for MMR, RSV or pneumonia vaccine, call 845-364-2534 before leaving. Ask whether the vaccine will be available Wednesday, whether you are eligible and what documentation to bring.
The County records do not publish parking, accessible-route, seating, language-assistance or wait-time details for the Fieldhouse. Confirm an accommodation need with the Health Department before traveling. For personal questions about which vaccine you need or when to receive it, speak with a healthcare provider.
What changes for a resident: Rockland residents can walk into the RCC Fieldhouse for a confirmed flu clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, but anyone making the trip specifically for MMR, RSV or pneumonia vaccine should call 845-364-2534 first because the County's current records do not agree.
