SERVICE UPDATE COMMUNITY & ACCESS

Stony Point police services remain available. Entrance work may make the lobby difficult to reach.

Construction is underway on the police station’s front steps, entrance area and surrounding sidewalks. The department says access to the lobby and police desk may be limited or difficult for the next few weeks—not that the station is closed.

What residents should know

  • Need non-emergency police help? Call 845-786-2422 so an officer can assist you.
  • Is it an emergency? Call 911.
  • Planning to visit the station? Expect that the front steps, entrance area and nearby sidewalks may be difficult to use while work continues.
  • Is the station closed? The department’s notice does not say that. It says lobby and police-desk access may be limited or difficult.

What is changing

The Stony Point Police Department says it is replacing the station’s front steps, entrance area and surrounding sidewalks at 79 Route 210. The department describes the access issue as lasting for the “next few weeks,” but it has not posted a specific completion date.

That means the useful step is to call before relying on ordinary lobby access. The notice asks anyone needing police services or assistance to use the department’s non-emergency number so an officer can help.

What remains unresolved

The public notice does not provide a temporary public entrance, a day-by-day construction schedule or a specific accessibility route. It also does not say that the police desk or station is closed. Residents who need physical access should call the department for current instructions rather than infer a route from the construction description.

The useful version: for non-emergency police assistance in Stony Point, call 845-786-2422 before depending on lobby access. For an emergency, call 911.
