Check your Whole Foods cheese. One Cabricharme label is missing egg.
If you recently bought cut-to-order Cabricharme cheese at Whole Foods, check the scale label before the next bite—especially if anyone in your household has an egg allergy or severe sensitivity.

- Product: Fromagerie Coop de Mean Cabricharme Raw Milk – Aged 60 days.
- PLU:
57953. - Best by: any date through and including October 7, 2026.
- Where sold: Whole Foods Market specialty-cheese departments; New York and New Jersey are among the listed states.
- If egg-allergic or severely sensitive: do not eat a match.
Why the label matters
The cheese contains lysozyme derived from egg white, but egg is not declared on the label. Whole Foods says someone with an egg allergy or severe sensitivity could have a serious or life-threatening reaction after eating it.
If someone may be having a severe allergic reaction, call 911. Product questions belong with Whole Foods; personal medical questions belong with a clinician.
Destroy the cheese or seek a receipt-based refund
Whole Foods says customers do not need to return the recalled cheese and urges them to destroy it. A purchaser may also seek a full refund with a valid receipt at the place of purchase.
For product questions, call Whole Foods Market at 1-844-936-8255. The line is open 8 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern on weekdays and 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Eastern on weekends.
New York distribution is confirmed; a Rockland sale is not
The company says the affected PLU was sold at Whole Foods specialty-cheese departments in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. Its announcement does not name the 18 stores involved. The Rockland Edit has not confirmed a Rockland store, purchaser, package, allergic reaction or illness.
Whole Foods says all affected product has been removed from store shelves, but previously purchased cheese may still be in a refrigerator. No illnesses had been reported when the company announcement was published September 11.
Ignore the other PLU for a New York label check
The same announcement also lists Belgian Cabricharme marked PLU 54670, but that product was limited to Arizona and California. For a New York or New Jersey purchase, the regional label check is PLU 57953.
What changes for a resident: check Whole Foods Cabricharme cheese for PLU 57953 and a best-by date through October 7. If the label matches and you have an egg allergy or severe sensitivity, do not eat it; destroy it or use a valid receipt to seek a refund.
